The Secret to an Energised Workplace Through Signage

A great workplace isn't just somewhere people do work; it's somewhere that makes them feel connected. Experiential branding and signage can transform a space from functional to engaging, shaping the experience at every touchpoint.

Developed by Blank Studio, the wayfinding package for Nationale-Nederlanden's Warsaw office is a testament to this. The brand treatments take things from functional wayfinding to integral parts of the experience. Each material, colour and font is intentional, bringing the brand's unique energy to life.

As you step inside, warmth and vibrancy welcome you. Plywood panels form the system's foundation, bringing a natural quality that softens the otherwise contemporary interiors. Where the natural finish doesn't fit, individual panels are painted or laminated to contrast with their surroundings and provide key points of interest. 

Then comes the injection of energy. The use of the vibrant brand orange is more than an accent; it brings the space to life. It highlights key elements, draws attention to essential information, and reinforces the bold visual identity and dynamic character of the brand. This is further complemented by a simple black-and-white palette; an effective choice that ensures clarity, legibility, and impact. 

This energy isn't just about colour though. It's about rhythm, movement and flow. Built around modular elements, the signage had flexibility as a core feature, allowing consistency while embracing adaptability across different spaces and functions. Every detail you see is created specifically to maximise impact, all without overpowering the space.

The result is one thing: this space embodies the brand. Every touchpoint works together to create a somewhere that is highly functional yet deeply engaging. By not letting the signage fade into the background, it’s allowed to bring additional energy, contributing to the feeling that employees and visitors are connected to the company.

What can we take away from all this? Signage and experimental branding are an opportunity to energise a space. Successfully blending it with a visual identity, brand values, and interior design ensures it goes beyond a tool for navigation or identification; it shapes people's experiences.
