The Power of Colour & Texture
Pyrmont Tech Campus, Sydney
Colour and texture are more than design choices; they shape how we interact, navigate and connect with our surroundings. A well-designed space doesn’t just look great, it creates a feeling somewhere that influences behaviour and creates memorable experiences.

Pyrmont Tech Campus, developed by THERE Studio has blended colour and texture across every element of the signage, wayfinding and experiential design. Spread across three buildings along Sydney Harbour, the opportunity to explore how the space could be a more cohesive and engaging environment has been embraced.

Nothing about the design is random; it’s strategic. Bright, bold colours define different areas, aiding wayfinding and making navigation completely intuitive. The kaleidoscope of colour brings calm to breakout spaces, and energy to collaboration zones. Every detail is intentional and ties function to feeling.

While colour shapes mood, texture brings an extra dimension. Whether it’s raised lettering, embossed graphics, illuminated elements or hammered substrates; every choice works with the surrounding elements to create dynamic visuals. Other details add contrast, making key elements stand out while remaining refined as an overall space.

Colour and texture aren’t just decorative either; they guide, engage and create identity. This project demonstrates that thoughtful choices can transform spaces into something that goes beyond function. Instead, they use colour and texture to create an experience that is both intuitive and memorable.
